We brought home three Asian CSR awards... Yey!

Work colleagues and I spent Friday night at the Crowne Plaza in Ortigas. It was the awards night of the Asian CSR Forum and we were one of the winners.

It was truly a special evening. It was the first time that the company got an award from this award-giving body. And we brought home not one, not two but three citations. Yey!

Our Kabalikat sa Edukasyon (Your Partner in Education) program was the winner in the Education category, while the Alternative Power for Cell Sites was a runner-up in the Environmental Excellence category. The top prize went to Tetra Pak in Pakistan which had a really impressive program. Oh well, maybe next time. Haha! I'm particularly happy for this award because I wrote the entry for this category. Haha!

Uhm, I'm not that big of a fan of awards ceremonies. Personally, I'd rather stay in the background and let the people behind the project shine under the limelight. But I guess being in the department where I am requires being up there on the stage every so often. Hehe!

Awarding ceremonies can sometimes be tedious because it takes so long before you go up the stage. Now, I have an idea how attendees of the Oscars or the Emmys feel.

But what is enjoyable is that these award nights are a way of saying that one has done his job quite well. I tend to be insecure at times, and awards like the one we got give me a boost of confidence and an assurance that I'm doing something correct.

Last night was also extra special because our Pres. & CEO Polly Nazareno and our Chairman MVP attended the event. I've met MVP a couple of times, and yet, I still find myself somewhat starstruck by the man every time I see him. Haha! It's the fan in me I guess.

So when the event concluded an hour after what was written in the program, we stayed for a bit and waited for a chance to have a photo with our dear Chairman. Come on, it's not every day I get to do that. And it's not every day that I cross paths with him.

I wonder what it's like to be his personal assistant, or to be the personal assistant of other power CEOs like JAZA or my former DHO. I'm sure it's overly stressful, but I think it's one career I find interesting and might even consider someday. Hehe!

MVP and the TNT Ballers reach out to Ondoy victims in Pasig...

I'm supposed to be packing, but I got a call last night that I had to do a coverage this morning. Hehe!

Big Boss MVP wanted to do a relief ops activity today. However, because of typhoon Pepeng, things were only finalized just this morning.

We went to the covered court in Barangay San Miguel in Pasig, and that's where the relief packs were distributed. MVP was joined by the TNT bballers in distributing some 500 relief packs.

Alright, this is going to be a quick post. I gotta head home and do some serious packing for my trip tomorrow. Haha!

Happy birthday, EMVEEPEE!!!

It was in the summer of 1999 when I first met individuals who were known by their initials. I was having my practicum with the Corporate Affairs dept. of the country's oldest conglomerate. I would hear people saying, "JAZA is here." Or sometimes, I would also hear "FZA" and very rarely, I would also hear "JZA."

That was when I learned that power people need not spell out their complete names. The initials alone are more than enough.

Hahaha! In my second job, my bosses were DHO, HHD, RAHO, and so on.

And for the past two years (and counting), I'm part of a company led by one of the most valuable people in Philippine busines. It was his birthday two weeks ago, and a birthday cake was given to him during the CIGNAL launch.

Can you guess who?! Hehehe! I wonder if the day would come when I would be called ALM. Hahahaha!

Hosting gig went well...

The event hosting gig yesterday morning went well, I think. The crowd were college students in their junior year, so that was quite easy to handle. The event was an summer apprenticeship recruitment orientation. Our company is getting about 125 students this summer, and whoever's going to get in is going to be really lucky because I'm sure they'll be learning a lot from their exposure to the business.

The key words for the morning program were "Leadership" and "Innovation." I learned a lot from the guest speakers, which included our company's main man, someone who really embodies leadership and innovation - MVP. In an attempt to be "makapal," I introduced myself to him onstage while I was make the intro for him. "The next speaker needs no introduction, so instead, I'll just introduce myself to him. 'Sir, Angelo Morales, Public Affairs.'" Haha! That got the crowd laughing and him too. I thought that was fun.

Anyway, after the program, I just had lunch with Pat and the organizers and then I already went home. My body was already screaming, "I want to sleep. I want to sleep." Haha!
