Thursdate with RKGreg and MkSurf8....

Mom and I spent most of Wednesday out and about walking around familiar places.

More about that in another post.

Our day ended with dinner together with two of my good friends here in Singapore - @MkSurf8 and @RKGreg. The two guys invited me to dinner last week but it had to be postponed to this week.

It was a blessing that the dinner was postponed since my Mom also got to meet them.

We had dinner at Wine Connection, definitely one of my fave places (although I didn't spend as much time frequenting it).

It was an evening with good food, a glass of wine, yum dessert, nice chitchat, and terrific friends. Every evening should have endings like this.

Thank you again, @RKGreg and @MkSurf8, for the dinner treat and more importantly, for the kindness right from the start. I'll always be grateful.

And happppppyyyy birthday, MkSurf8!

Hello again, TWC...

Because I had such a good day, I went for The Wine Connection again. Lol!

While I'm here in Bangkok, I'm going to take advantage of TWC. I'm getting the same quality of food I get in SG for half the price! How awesome is that! :P

Second night this week that I masturDATED. Haha! I think I'm already used to it.

Good food plus a glass of vino.

I'm not complaining.

Rare gathering of 10...

What was originally just another dinner with the usual suspects turned into quite a big gathering of ten. Hehe!

And it was great because rarely do we have a gathering that big.

While inviting people to the dinner, the question everyone asked was, "What's the occasion?"

LOL!

Uhm, yes we need an occasion to have dinner?

It was an enjoyable Thursday evening. Would have been a much bigger group if a few of the other guys were able to join.

Nice, nice.

Good Sunday except for one thing...

Despite the heavy downpour throughout yesterday...

The good things:
By afternoon, the rain had stopped. Found a new book I'm planning to read. Dinner with PG Boy at The Wine Connection at Robertson Walk. Awesome bolognese at the said restau. Catching Lea, Menchu, Art and Adrian on God of Carnage. The show was great! The after show was even more awesome. (Separate entry for this one)

The one thing I forgot:
Richie's bday. Ugh! I can't believe I forgot. I only remembered because the first message I saw in the group chat when I got up this morning was, "So please explain why no one greeted me on my birthday?" Ugh! Kicking myself for it. Haha!

< Except for that one thing, it was a great Sunday...

Raclette night...

Thursday night was raclette night with MkSurf8 and Chris.

Over the post-run breakkie last Sunday, MkSurf8 told us about the Eat-All-You-Can Raclette promo at Wine Connection. We (including Ian) all agreed to go and try it out.

Unfortunately, Ian had to back out because of work. I messaged Mon, Coly and Tipsz to check if they were interested. Too bad all three had already made plans for the night.

So it was just the three musketeers last night. Hehe!

I'm not sure if I've tried raclette before. Hehe! But if you're a cheese lover, you must certainly head down to Unity Street for your raclette experience.

It's kinda cool. You have your own small pan where you place a slice of raclette cheese. Then, you place the pan on the raclette grill and wait for the cheese to melt.

Afterwards, you pour the melted cheese on the potatoes, bread or cold cuts.

For $29.90, you get unlimited raclette, cheese, salad, boiled potatoes, cold cuts, and bread.

To make it an even nicer experience, you should order a bottle of wine to go with the cheese. I've decided to significantly cut down on my alcohol intake (gout issues) so I just had a glass of rose wine.

Random hohol part 2...

Last night was part 2 of random hohol. Haha!

I wasn't really planning on going out because Thursday night is my Chona night (aka laundry night).

Initially, I said I wouldn't be able to join the guys.

But...

It didn't take much for MkSurf8 and Chris to convince me to go out for drinks. Haha!

We were supposed to go to Verre, a wine bar in Rodyk Street which was recommended by a co-volunteer Ivan.

Chris and I got to the venue ahead of MkSurf8. The place was kinda swanky. Hehe! It was more of a date place.

So we decided to just head to The Wine Connection at Robertson Walk.

It was my first time there, and I have to say the wine (and the mains and the tapas) was wayy more affordable.

The place was also packed, so it was a nice venue for people-watching. Thankfully, it rained in the afternoon so the evening turned out to be a cool night.

Funny situation:

The wait staff were mostly Filipinos and we were attended to by a nice guy. Chris was looking at the wine list, and he told the guy the wine he wanted. The wine was about $70.

When the waiter saw the wine we wanted, he remarked, "Sir, that's expensive. Why don't you just pick one from this other selection?"

He points to Chris another list, which costs half the price of the wine we really wanted. Hahaha!

Wahlau! Because we're Pinoys, the $70 wine is too ex for us, issit?! Eh, you think $70 wine only angmoh can buy, ah?!

Instead of scolding the guy, we just agreed with him and laughed at the situation.

We were there after all to relax. Hehe!

For the next few hours, we just talked and people watched and just enjoyed the random hohol night. I wonder where Ian was.
