Just May Be A New Song...

DAWSON CREEK lyrics

PJ Olsson's Ready for a Fall from the Dawson's Creek soundtrack. Boy, I haven't heard this song for a million years because I buried the DC CD somewhere. But lately I found myself listening to the songs again, and I don't know but this PJ Olsson song might be the new song. Hahaha! Let's see.

Going for It...

I was planning to do something today that I haven't done for the longest time. I'm a bit scared and nervous because I'm just not sure if I'm ready to jump into it again. But then, while going through my emails, I read the passage below and it sort of helped. So I guess I should just go for it.

"Energy is never lost.

We've all had experiences where we gave our all in a romantic or business relationship, only to get BURNED! "What a waste!" we might think. But according to Kabbalah, our efforts empower a force from above that brings that right person or deal into our lives.

Today, be willing to go for it, whatever "it" may be."

Not Too Happy....

With nothing much to do this afternoon, I decided to do something really vain. Tried some of the clothes I haven't worn for quite some time now. And after trying on a couple of my favorites, I knew it was time to lose weight. Augh! While I did manage to button up every shirt, it didn't look good at all. I have to lose weight fast. Or else, those clothes would end up in the closet. I don't think John Varvatos or the Missoni family or the Salt people would be very happy. But more than just wanting to fit into my shirts again, I really have to triim down because first and foremost, I haven't been feeling healthy lately. In my previous job, at least I got to play badminton even if it's just once a week. But with the new job, I still have to find an activity partner. I've been planning to go to this gym nearby but I keep on procrastinating. Haaay! I should just get up and go.

Shopping Trip + Movie...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Went on a shopping trip. Unplanned again, unfortunately. Eeeep! Damage included several DVDs and CDs from Tower Records, some stuff from Healthy Options, two magazines, a book from Bibliarch, and a Mexx tote. Yaiks! In the evening, met up with Noreen and watched Rush Hour 3. It was all good. Bumped into Grace G. after the movie. Went home.

This Week's Friday Five...

1. What were the circumstances surrounding your last all-nighter?
I think the last time I stayed really late at the office was because I had to prepare for a launch event the following morning. I thought everything was already in place, but there were several last minute stuff. But it's all good.

2. What’s your favorite stay-awake-and-alert food or drink?
Uhm, chips and gallons of coffee.

3. What are you most likely to be doing when you’re up in the late, late hours of the night?
I could either be reading, watching a DVD or working.

4. In what way does your personality change when you are sleep-deprived?
Whenever I'm sleep deprived, I'm usually hyper in the first few hours of the morning after. By lunch time, I start to feel tired and I want to find the nearest bed.

5. If you get home extremely tired and extremely hungry, which need are you most likely to satisfy first?
Sometimes I just go straight to bed and doze off.

Hahaha! I wish.

"I Can Hear the Bells" is one of the songs in the movie musical I've long been waiting for - Hairspray.

And the waiting is over because today, Hairspray hits the cinemas of Manila. Woo woo woo!

Can't wait to see this movie.

Creepy Guy Behind You...

For some reason, there are moments when I seem to be a creepy stalker magnet. )

Seriously, how many times have I been harassed? Onboard the train. In the jeepney. In the public restroom. In church. In the bus (twice, by the same a-hole).

And then, yesterday afternoon it happened again.

Before heading to Starbucks where I planned to cover in plastic some books I've previously bought, I passed by the chapel in Greenbelt as I usually do. After saying my little prayer, I left and started my walk to Starbucks.

That's when I felt that this guy was following me. I took the escalator and unfortunately, there weren't any other people. The guy took one step ahead of me and from the corner of my eye, I saw him give me a head to toe check out. I couldn't look him in the eye and I didn't even see his face, but he was wearing a hoodie, torn jeans, black socks and sandals. I saw him at the chapel but I didn't think he would be creepy.

When I reached the second level, I let him walk ahead of me. He was checking though if I was still behind him. I immediately escaped to the Tower Records store where I planned to get a Hairspray soundtrack.

I thought I lost the guy. Not. The store doors open and in comes creepy guy. So I quickly grabbed the CD, paid for it and made a quick dash for the door without looking back. I quickened my pace and took the stairs to get to the ground level. I started to feel really scared. Every now and then, I would look behind me to see if he was still following me. If he did, I swear I would have gone to security.

Thankfully, I lost him and made it to Starbucks in one piece. But I was feeling a bit nervous the entire time till I went home. I was afraid creepy guy would suddenly show up again.

I keep on wondering what is it that makes these creepy guys follow me. I'm quite sure that when I leave the house there is no "Creepy Guys Follow Me" sign on my forehead. I mean I'm not even gorgeous (Just charming. Hehe! Kidding!) Could it be because I look vulnerable?

And I'm quite sure that this instance and all the previous instances weren't attempts to befriend me. They were blatant pickup attempts. Augh! Some would probably say that I'm overreacting. Uhm, I guess I wouldn't be uncomfortable if I knew that the other person's intentions were harmless (or at least, he could pretend to be harmless).

Haay! Hope your weekend was creepy guy-free.

Rain and a Nokia E61i...

As I write this entry, I can hear the sound of the heavy rainfall outside. I'm lying on my bed in my pjs, with four pillows and almost bundled up with a soft blanket.

It's been raining since last Wednesday, so it's not really a good idea to go out (unless you want to give yourself a hard time going around the city).

It's really a good idea to just stay home with a cup of hot choco and a good book or in my case, with my new phone that I'm currently loving so much. No more need to get up and go out to check my mail or to blog.

The E61i gets me connected right here, right now. Haha! Sounds like an ad. But I just really love the features of this phone.

It's the Time of the Year...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The September Vogue has just hit the newsstands and boy, it is thick?!

From what I read, it's 840 pages of editorials, ads and text. Surely, it'll be sold here in Manila for about P750 (around $15). Eeeep!

On the cover is Sienna Miller. I'm not really a Sienna Miller fan, but I can't wait to see what they clothed her with.

I'm not sure but this whole "really-thick September issue" of Vogue started about three years ago. The one where the cover was a gateway of the new breed of models - Gisele, Natalia, Daria, Hana, Liya, Gemma, Isabeli, Karen, to name a few. I think that was really a fantastic cover, compared to the ones that followed - SJP and Kirsten Dunst.

Anyway, read more about the September Vogue in this review of Cathy Horyn of NY Times. (She and Sarah Mower are my two favorite fashion journalists.)

Hmm, I'm not sure if I'll buy the issue already or if I'll wait for October. By that time, the price would have been slashed by as much as 50% off.

This Week's Friday Five...

Alright, here is this week's Friday 5.

1. What were your after-school hours usually like when you were in high school?
Hmm, in high school, my after-school hours were usually spent at church. Not because I would attend Mass, it was more because I hung out with my friends. (I was an acolyte back then.)

2. What are the first moments like when you finally get home after a long day?
I just want to hit the sack. Or if I'm not too tired, just lie down, listen to soft music, and wait till I fall asleep.

3. Where do your thoughts normally turn after the December/January holidays have passed?
I'm usually full of plans and ideals for the brand new year.

4. When did you last allow someone to cut in front of you in line?
Last Sunday, at church, during communion, which I always do.

5. What are you going to do right after you finish answering these questions?
Fix some office files.

I Think What I Need...

I think what I need to get my head off of you is another distraction. Yeah, it could be a sport, a hobby, or even tons more of work. Hahaha! But then again, I'd rather that the new "distraction" is a live human being. Someone who just can be what you can't be. Hehehe!

Gone Out of Town...

Today and tomorrow.

But it's not for leisure. It's for work. Heading over to Clark, Pampanga for a web workshop for one of our sister companies. It should be interesting and fun.

Fatherhood Becomes Him...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Hahaha! This is probably how I'd look like had I turned out meant to be married to a lady. This photo was taken when some friends from my old office visited our colleague who recently gave birth. The "mom" in the photo is my friend, Shy, and we all decided to make the afternoon atmosphere even lighter by posing as a happy couple with their newborn. Hehehe! Seriously though, even if I did have the "marry a girl" gene or whatever, I don't see myself getting married at 27. While most of my classmates have already tied the knot and are living the married life, I don't see myself settling down with someone till I'm probably 35. Wait, actually, I am ready to settle down. But I'm not ready to be a Dad or to live the kind of "married" life that I want. Hehehe!

Love Conquers All...Not...

Last week, I found out that a couple friend of mine broke up. They've been together for quite some time now, and never did it cross my mind that they would actually decide to go on their own separate ways. I mean, they've had their own share of couple trials, but they always came out of these trials triumphant. With this really (heart) breaking news, I'm now starting to believe that couples do break up. I'm starting to believe that even if two people have been together for ten months, ten years, twenty weeks, twenty years, it is still possible for them to split up. A friend I really look up to once told me that the saying "Love conquers all" has no truth at all. I'm starting to believe him. But just to make something clear. This doesn't mean that I'm giving up on love. What I wouldn't give to have that September evening once again.

Not Much Today...

Sunday morning was spent at home. I watched the Aga Muhlach-Kristine Hermosa flick "All My Life" on my iBook. Then went to Mass at Greenbelt Chapel in the afternoon. Paid some bills. Went home and had early dinner.

Saturday Agenda...

Went to Gallery Frames to pick up the artworks that should have been picked up months ago. I cringe whenever I remember how much I shelled out to have those Javiers, Chings, Cabreras, and Olazos framed, but seeing how nice they turned out makes me think it was worth it. Now, I just need to paint the other half of my room so the pieces may be hung.

In the afternoon, I met up with Bernice at Gateway Mall where we watched Ratatouille. There's an ongoing Cinemanila Film Festival, which featured Asian indie films, but Bernice wanted to see the cartoon flick. It was a good one. The scene where all the rats were in the kitchen cooking was quite disturbing though because coming from a Third World country, I've seen those rats in the flesh and there's nothing charming about them. Hehe! I did love the Paris landscapes. Gawd, even in cartoons, Paris is so gorgeous. Hehe! I swear I'll visit Europe by the time I'm 30.

After the film, we had Chinese for dinner at Superbowl, followed by coffee and chat at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf.

Also, I helped out make her first Mango purchase. There were four baby doll dress in competition, but in the end, the slightly-puff sleeved, slightly scoop neck, black and white printed piece got Bernice's and my approval. Hehehe! That was really fun.

This Week's Friday Five...

1. You’ve always wished for it, and your wish has come true: There’s now a twenty-fifth hour in the day, but you have to spend it the same way every day on something you don’t have enough time for now, and it can’t be for sleep. How will you spend this extra hour every day?
I'll use it to go to the gym or get into a sport. I need to lose a lot of weight.

2. As if that weren’t enough, an extra day has been added to the calendar, and you can insert it anywhere you want, except the day immediately before or after a holiday, and you have to spend it the same way every year. How will you spend this extra day each year, and when on the calendar will it appear?
If I could have an extra day, I would probably squeeze it after December 25, just so I would have an extra day for Christmas break.

3. Someone is giving you an extra twenty dollars per week (or its equivalent, if your country uses a different monetary unit) to spend any way you want, but you have to spend it the same way every week, and it has to be on yourself (no charity or gift-giving, and no investing or saving!). How will you spend this extra twenty dollars per week?
I'd go to the spa and treat myself to a nice, relaxing massage.

4. Wow! When you woke up this morning, you noticed that someone snuck in and added a new room to your living space! The room is for your exclusive use, and it can serve only one FUN function (and it can’t be used as a bedroom or storage). What fun activity will be reserved for this new room?
I'm going to use it as my library and entertainment room.

5. A magic backpack appears at your doorstep. It will hold any one thing you can normally carry by yourself, it will render that item weightless, and it will collapse to the size of a small pack of gum. What will you carry in it?
- My iBook, mobile phone, notebooks, pencil case, and wallet.

I'm done. Your turn.

What is it?

So we did recently hang out. No, we didn't just hang out. In a parallel world, it would have been a date. But it's not. So what is it? No one really knows. And maybe I should stop trying to understand it or to define it. Since that Starbucks treat eons agon, we've been having this game going.

Tarantino in Manila...

I was going to see The Simpsons at Gateway with a friend. While waiting, I saw another friend who works at the Gateway cinema. Since I knew my movie buddy would be late, I went with my friend from Gateway when she asked me to hang out for a while at the G-Platinum (aacckkk!!! Hehe!) lounge. While waiting, in comes this guy to use the bathroom. I saw him earlier when he arrived at the mall for an event, but I really didn’t think I’d get a chance to have a photo with him, because the event was by invitation only. Hehe! Anyway, when he stepped out of the men’s room, I threw away whatever shyness I had, and asked for a photo with him. He was actually nice. But stupid me, I didn't say a word, not even a compliment for any of his films. Eeeep!

Check out who's gracing the August 2007 issue of Harper's Bazaar.

Supermodel Linda Evangelista will serve as the family's tour guide in the fashion capital of the world. In the eight-page spread, the Simpsons visit the ateliers of Versace, CHanel, Lanvin, Gaultier, Vuitton, among others. It's a really fantastic spread. Marge looked so gorgeous when she let her hair down for Donatella. Illustrations by Julius Preite.

Let the Shopping Begin...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Yeah, someone did go shopping over the weekend. Eeep! The scene of the crime was Debenhams at the third level of Edsa Shangri-la. It started with just helping Eden looking for a nice necktie for his friend. Then the next I thing I know we were looking at shirts, kids' clothes, accessories, and other stuff. Charmy arrives and then she joins the shopping brouhaha. But the pillage doesn't end there. We go to the store adjacent to it and make one big kill. Eeep! Alright, you do know that we all got to save a lot because of the ongoing ultra crazy sale. And some shirts that I got were gifts from Eden, since it's sort of Pinoy tradition to bring home gifts when one goes out of the country. If you're wondering if that's a Paul Smith carrier bag, yes it is. Someone will go hungry for months. Hahaha!

Saturday Get-together with the OFW...

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Finally got together with very good friend Eden. Two more best friends, Charms and Kendi, joined us. Met up at Edsa Shangri-la then went to the Fort then finally, at Metrowalk. It was a good get-together. We went shopping at Debenhams, which was having an ultra crazy sale! We checked out Paul Smith where there was also a very crazy sale. (These crazy sales merit a separate entry. Hehe!) We had dinner at UCC Cafe at the Fort. We had good conversations at Starbucks. We had fun just seeing each other again after such a long time. Eden will be leaving for Dubai again in a week. Will surely miss her, but it's great to have hung out with such a good friend even for a short while.

Saturday, August 4, 2007

Welcome home, OFW!

Eden, my friend for 10 years now and definitely, one of my best friends, is in town for a vacation. She left for Dubai last year to work there. (Hence, the term OFW --- overseas Filipino worker.) Her move to Dubai was rather sudden. We were talking about it during one of our get-togethers and the next thing I know, she's already bound for Dubai. Anyway, I'm really excited to see her. Will definitely post photos.

This Week's Friday Five...

1. If you were a fruit, which would you be and why?
I'd like to be a watermelon. It's my favorite fruit.

2. If you wake up and smell smoke, and you have to get everybody (pets included) out of the house safely, but you have time to grab one item, what would you grab?
Everything I can.

3. If you were stuck on an island, who would be the one person you would want with you and why?
Hehehehe....

4. If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
Take away my love handles, please.

5. If you could spend the day with one famous person, dead or alive, who would you
choose?
I would most probably choose Karol Wojtyla.

I'm done. Your turn.

Baptism of Fire...

Today was sort of like my baptism of fire in the new company. (Well, it's sort of like my nth baptism of fire already. Hehehe!) Had an inauguration and press briefing today. It was toxic. It was hot. It was nerve-racking. But in the end, everything went well. The bosses are (or seem to be) happy. My boss is (seems to be) happy. I'm happy. So I guess it's okay.

Thursday, August 2, 2007

Last Minute...

It's almost 11PM. We're still here at the office preparing for a launch/press briefing tomorrow. I'm still wondering how we missed out on some thing. But I'm just hoping and really crossing my fingers that tomorrow would be okay.

Exhibit Now Over...

Relatively relaxed day. Finished two photo releases and two press releases for the event last Friday. Had a despedida for a colleague. Early the evening, prepared talking points for a Thursday event. Went to Gateway Mall to help with the egress. Went home and had quick dinner.
