Quick meetup with Tipz...

Look who was in town...

... but only for an hour or so. Hehe!

Tipz had a short layover in Singapura before his flight back to Sydney. He spent a week or so exploring Vietnam with his KL-based best friend. It's sooo good to see him again. Since he didn't have that much time in SG, we just agreed to meet up near the airport. I asked Richie if he was free for dinner, then he and I could meet up with Tipz. I would have organised another dinner but the visitor didn't want to inconvenience other people.

Visitor.

It was not long ago when we were both FTs. Haha! Good times, good time. Okay, I will stop before I start speeding through a highway of nostalgia. Hahaha!

So good seeing you, Tipz! :) Thanks for the early birthday pressie... even if it was forced.

I can always return it when I visit you in Syd. ;)

Thursday. Dinner at Pappa Rich. Drinks at Out and May Wong. Supper at Maxwell.

Friday. Lunch at Toss & Turn. Shopping. Window shopping. Dinner at Korat Thai. Dessert at PS Cafe Palais Renaissance.

Earlier, Edsel already flew back to Manila. Moi, on the other hand, flew back last Sunday. I-van will be flying back to KL tomorrow night.

It's back to regular programming for me, Richie and Mon. Richie and I were talking about how tired we were from last week (I have been sleeping at 130AM every night and waking up at 7AM... LOL!) but it was definitely super fun having the vharkadings around.

The week just got better...

Well, the week just got better.

The other day, the SG-KL-MNL Whatsapp group chat was having its usual conversation. I then sent a photo from Timehop that showed a group photo from 15 July 2013.

Edsel then sent a photo of the "To city" MRT sign. I wondered why he was sending that photo. I thought it was a stock photo from a previous trip. Then he sends another photo in the MRT, and another one. The next thing we know, the group just goes alive because Edsel is also in town! Hehe!

So, yup, the week just got a lot better. Wednesday night, I met up with the gang for dinner at Lau Pa Sat and from there, we headed to One Fullerton for coffee, desserts and hangout at The Landing Point. Gad, One Fullerton has the best interiors, I swear!

Last night, it was another nightout with the guys. Edsel and I had dinner. Afterwards, we met the rest for drinks then late dinner then drinks then supper.

Today, the plan is to accompany the shoppers. Haha! I dun intend to buy anything seriously. I need to save for two trips end of this year.

Tomorrow, Moi is also arriving. Unfortunately, Vic and Richard couldn't fly in. Otherwise, it would be one big reunion. Haha!

Nice weekend, it'll be.

This weekend: trainings, Pink Dot, wedding, and birthday party...

It's going to be another packed weekend. Haha!

Saturday morning will start with a three-hour lecture on Southeast Asian art. This is still part of the docent training for the National Gallery. I'm getting more excited, especially after seeing a number of works by Filipino artists included in the lecture. Yay! I can't wait to visit the National Gallery again and see all the fantastic pieces from artists around the region hanging on the walls of the galleries.

For now, I have o be content with seeing the pieces on my lecture notes. Haha!

In the afternoon, I have to go to Raffles Place to attend a makeup class for the Japanese class that I missed last week. Because I had an activity with my groupmates in the National Gallery docent training, I had to skip Lesson 17 of my Japanese class. It was okay though because I really enjoyed the time with my fellow docent trainees. Hehe!

The Japanese classes continue to be challenging. It becomes more challenging as each lessons progresses. Haha! I have not yet even started studying kanji. At some point, I need to start delaying kanji and start studying. So help me God!

The last agenda for Saturday is Pink Dot at Hong Lim Park. My views on the event have changed through the years, since the first time I attended it. Anyway, I'm still going to support the event tomorrow. I will be meeting up with some friends and together, we will all show our support for Singapore's call for freedom to love. :)

For Sunday, I have two gatherings to attend. Around lunchtime, I will attend a wedding reception in the Bugis area near the Malay Heritage Centre. It's my first time to attend a wedding in Singapore and I'm really, really looking forward to it. In the afternoon, I will be going to the birthday gathering of Mrs. B. I dunno yet where the venue is, but I promised her that I will be there.

My main dilemma is the outfit. Lol. For the wedding reception, I'm planning something semi-formal. The birthday gathering, on the other hand, is a BBQ pool party. Hehe! Maybe I should just wear my swim shorts under the wedding reception clothes and I'll just take off everything when I reach the birthday party venue. Haha! Kidding.

So yeah, it's going to be a busy, busy weekend. I need to find time to squeeze in a workout. Pump class tomorrow morning is definitely out. Same goes for the Pump class on Sunday morning. Haha!

Anyway, let's see how.

A very long Saturday with some good friends...

The past few days have been extremely busy.

That explains the reason behind the delay in posts. There have been quite a few things I've been wanting to write about. It is only now that I am finally able to sit down and face the laptop. Hehe!

Okay, let's begin...

Saturday

Last weekend, two of my good friends, I-van and Moi, were in town. The former, a recent transplant to KL from Manila, had to fly to Singapura for work. Moi, on the other hand, was in KL for his holiday and he naturally had to go with I-van to SG. Two holidays in one. Yay!

The pair arrived in Singapore last Wednesday. However, as I wrote in a previous post, I've been unwell last week so it was only last Saturday that I finally got to meet up with them. I thought I'd make up for the missed Wednesday and Thursday night hohols by ensuring that I spend time with them as early as possible.

Thankfully, I-van is also somewhat a morning person like me. He was already at the hotel lobby waiting for me when I arrived a few minutes past 8. We started a bit of chitchat while waiting for Moi, who arrived a not long after.

We spent an hour having breakfast before heading to our first destination for the day - Gardens by the Bay. It's my second time to visit the tourist destination. I thought I would be seeing the same things as I did the last time I went there with Mom. To my pleasant surprise, there was a special exhibit that featured tulips from the Netherlands. I had a good time going around the Flower Dome admiring the beautiful flowers flown in from the Netherlands as it brought back beautiful memories of my favourite city in Europe (as of now). Hehe!

We skipped The Cloud Forest and instead headed to Plaza Singapura for an early lunch. Moi hasn't tried Tim Ho Wan yet, even if there is one in Manila. That made it easy for us to decide where lunch would be. Mon, who was also feeling unwell, arrived shortly and joined us. Yay! We ordered quite a lot. It was okay though because we managed to finish everything. Haha!

The next destination was the Peranakan Museum. Moi has been going around the previous days visiting some of the museums. I suggested we visit the Peranakan Museum since he and I-van enjoyed the Baba and Nyonya House in Malacca. Unfortunately, we couldn't join a guided tour as we were pressed for time. I think the Peranakan Museum should be visited with a guided tour. That will help one have a better understanding of the very interesting and unique Peranakan culture.

The final stop before heading back to the hotel was Kinokuniya, where Jon met up with us. I-van wanted to look for a particular book, Dana Thomas's Gods and Kings. Not only was he able to find a copy of the book, he was able to purchase a copy autographed by the author. How awesome! I was initially tempted to buy it as well, but decided to probably just get the Kindle version. I really should stop accumulating all these heavy books! Lol! It will be a nightmare transporting the books once the day I move to another country comes.

Tired from all the walking, we had a quick dessert at Ion before going back to the hotel. Moi and I-van then headed to the airport for their respective flights to Manila and KL. Meanwhile, I went with Mon back to his and Richie's place for siesta and to wait for Richie to come home so we can all have dinner together.

It was a long day that started at 6AM. I reached home past midnight. That was because I went back with Mon and Richie to their place after dinner so that we can watch a few episodes of Looking season 1. Hehe!

What a happy Saturday it was! Tiring but I'm glad that I was already almost fully recovered and more importantly, I got to spend QT with friends I have known for more than a decade.

As this is already a lengthy one, what happened on Sunday deserves another blog post ...

FaceTime Friday...

What a nice, relaxing Friday.

It's mainly because I got to spend a good time chatting with my best friend in Manila, Tey and best friend in then-SG/now-Syd, Tipz.

Thank goodness for living in a country with very fast Internet connection. Haha! The FaceTime sessions with both Tey and Tipz had very good quality.

When Tipz called, he was at the beach sunbathing. When I called Tey, she was having dinner at JT's Inasal. Two things I also miss - the beach and chicken inasal. Haha!

I'm staying in tonight. It'll be an early night. Tomorrow, I have to leave the house early again since there is a training I have to attend. After training, I'll head back to take a nap before going to Church and then dinner. After dinner, I'll have to head to town for RKGreg's birthday party.

Weekend's already looking packed. And it certainly started on a good note thanks to nice FT sessions with two of my closest friends.
